So I am attempting to add a new theme to my GPA that looks nice on the smaller screen. I found this guy who made a cool custom one that I want to try.

i followed the steps but there is some problem with file sharing and samba that it wont show up on my windows 10 pc. Idk what it is and am just wondering if any one has had a similar issue or if they have got file sharing/samba to work with their GPA.
For bootup speed, I had disabled some of the startup networking stuff. Samba may have been one of them. I recall that being the case, but I can't be sure offhand (without testing that I can't do immediately).

When I get some new Pi Zero W in, I may need to switch to a new image file, anyway. From what I understand, the old system won't work on both Zero and Zero W.

You should be able to use SSH/SCP. Check this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ayoMZucxV0

yeah i installed winscp and putty and that seemed to work out and gave me easy access to the retropie files.
I had to reenable samba on the newest image.  Out of the box it didn't work.  I also had to use the IP address to connect up, it wouldn't recognize it by name on my network (this is probably my network).

I play around with the themes and gamelists quite a bit so I set up samba shares for these folders and reset the permissions using CLI.  This way I can edit from my PC without having to use CLI.  It takes a few minutes to set up , but it's much more efficient for the way I like to do things.

I'm using Putty and Notepad++.
