Well, it looks like Krikzz has a flash device for PC-Engine / TurboGrafx 16 in the works. He just posted a video showing it in action. He did mention that he was interested in making one in the Assembler forums. I guess complaints about the Neo product and its stability issues [which were finally resolved once it turned out the software client was at fault] increased the demand for a better device.

At the end of the video you'll see it uses MicroSD, like his other designs. So far, he's made flash devices for GG, SNES, MD/Genesis [two], N64 and SMS. If he's doing it all by himself, I'm impressed. Maybe once he covers all the other platforms, he'll change his mind about WonderSwan?
I had heard that he was working on TG16/PCE, but I hadn't seen the video yet. Krikzz sure knows his stuff. I dunno if he'll ever do WS, but I suppose it's possible.

I'm working on a PCE/TG16 peripheral, myself.
I'd like to see a Super CD Rom emulator PCB that could plug straight onto the rear expansion of a Core unit allowing CD ISOs to be loaded from SD card.

Disc drive emulation will probably become more popular, in time. There are enough working units around, but then again, nobody wants to be burning CDs these days. Also, from what I've heard, CD-Rs put quite a strain on the Super CD drive, so who knows? Maybe something will materialize sooner than later.
I had been thinking up a new deal for hooking a SD card to the controller port. I guess there's this Memory Base 128 that worked something like this.

The problem is that I'm not sure anyone would care that much. You'd need some code running (on a HuCard or CD) that would allow you to manage your savegame data.

For anyone that hasn't seen it already, here's what I'm working on for PCE.

And here's a thread about the idea.

Look pretty good stuff again Wink Btw, did you get a hold of a (broken) TurboTap? I still have one spare, which is slightly broken.

Just read on Twitter that the flash card is out. $94 with and $79 without the USB port for developers. That's a really decent price compared to the Neo Flash card, which didn't offer MicroSD support and had some major client issues.
That's cool. I haven't decided yet whether I'll get this one, considering that I already have 2 PCE flash cards. Though I'm not sure that my tototek card even works properly anymore (and the SD-card solution is obviously a lot more future proof) so who knows.

Btw, does this cart have BRAM for saving? I don't see any mention of it on the retrogate page.

I've already e-mailed Krikzz about the save support, so as soon as I get an answer, I'll post it here.

Seeing how rapidly things have been developing lately, I'm a bit annoyed with myself that I literally spent hundreds of dollars on the Neo Flash hardware [which seemed better than my dated ToToTek products, at least at the time], and pretty much as soon as I started using it, the Everdrive stuff started appearing. I'm not even kidding when I say that for each of the flash devices I bought, two new ones came out. And now we're getting sd2snes, with support for Satellaview, DSP1-4, ST-010, Cx4, MSU1 and S-RTC, with even more stuff in the works.

EDIT: Krikzz got back to me, and his answer was short: "turbo everdrive does not have any onboard save memory". I asked him a couple of questions, so to clarify and to be sure, I asked him if he implemented any kind of save support at all [saving onto the MicroSD], to which he replied: "there is no any save features. I don't care about one or two games, which can save some data". So I guess that's it. No save related features of any kind.

By the way, and this is a question for mic_, unless anyone else knows the answer. The Neo Flash card [128 + save] seems to be having problems with saving the game in Chris Covell's Tongueman's Logic. The game does have save support, as stated in the readme, but so far I've been unable to save successfully, and I've tried both modes, the BRAM enabled one, and the other one, for good measure.
Hey guys. This summer has been busy, and it's not slowing down anytime soon. Sorry I haven't been replying here lately.

1) The SNES->PCE adapter multitap thingie is progressing. I have been working on a prototype, but it still only works with 1 SNES controller. Whenever I add functionality for another controller (or multiple), things get tricky. A solution is in the works, but again, slowly.

2) I am also working on a new PCE/TG16 flash cart. I know it's kinda bad timing with Krikzz releasing his version (and another guy doing a small run of his homemade version). However, I want to try some things with this and target a different sort of user. My plan is to make it have USB onboard. I don't know if it will have a MicroSD slot or not. After that, it will be very open. Hackers can modify the firmware or whatever to add features. Since I won't be doing a lot of initial firmware or menu development, it will keep the cost down. Maybe it could sell shipped for less than $50 USD. If I could keep it at half the cost of a Everdrive, maybe it could have some interesting usefulness and hackers could do all sorts of interesting things with it.

Initially, I think it would be pretty easy to use USB to load multiple games onto the cart and then have a menu to choose which game to run. If I could add a MicroSD slot, maybe enterprising coders/hackers could add a Everdrive style menu to copy from SD to flash.
