Flashmasta usb - installation/setup
#11
Do you have any other computers to test on? At this point, I assume 1 of 2 possibilities:
1) Hardware problem
2) OS problem (like a driver issue)

I don't mind replacing the cartridge if we can determine that it's a hardware problem. I just don't think it is helpful to send you a new cartridge if there's a chance that the new replacement will work the same way.

On my previous computer, I could'nt use the last flasmasta because of some compatibility issue.
To be able to install the drivers properly, I had to plug the flasmasta on an external USB HUB.

Some USB chipset are not fully complient with USB specifications. If you can borrow a USB HUB (or buy one), you can try to plug the Flasmasta thru the HUB and see if that correct your issue as it did for me.

Loïc.

I have to say that I haven't tested on XP in a very long time. I don't know what your result will be there. I think I have a virtual machine with XP, so I could also try to see how that works.

Of course, I'm anxiously awaiting your results.

ok, here are today test results :

-----
PC 1 (main computer that was tested yesterday) Win 7 64bits , i test it again:

can plug the flashmasta on any usb port (usb 2.0, usb 3.0, hub, motherboard) => no response. no device detected on zadig 64 or in System.

done the tests with 2 different cable.

----
PC 2 laptop win XP

plug the flashmasta
unknown device detected (plug sound) Wink
launch zadig 32:

same as yesterday :
"unknown device" id 0000 0000
the driver installation failed

---
PC 3 desktop win XP

can plug the flashmasta on any usb port (usb 2.0, hub, motherboard) => no response. no device detected on zadig or in System.

done the tests with 2 different cable.

----
FM in neo geo pocket:
plays
-faselei on slot one
-SNK vs. Capcom - Card Fighters Clash 2 english ver. on slot two
(factory installation)

---

that's for the tests.
i fear the I/O or equivalent of the cart drop me...Huh

the "random" aspect is very strange.

1-not the cable => tested with 2 cables
2 the OS ? one xp detect ,anoter XP not and the win 7 not too
3 - cart mini usb port ?, i don't think. i plugged / unpluged 10 times on the pc 2 ,can't be that, that was very reliable on the system who detected (instant plug / unplug sound, the unknown device is quicckly detected on zadig)

went back on pc 2 (who was "detecting" previously) :

i forgot to do a screenshot :

[Image: 20160523183915-maldoror68-Nouveau-Image-bitmap.PNG]

look at he bottom line :
driver installation FAILLED ( operation not supported or not implemented)

If not too far from Lyon, I could try to help (France is CEST timezone now, CET in winter).

But I had the issue of USB device undetected when I plugged it in my previous desktop (the very first flashmasta units were working fine). That computer had an intel ICH10 USB chipset.

Then I went through a USB hub, plugged into the computer, and all was ok (I don't know if you've ever hear of the open Pandora handheld that had a similar issue. If you plugged an usb1 device on its usb2 port, it crashed the usb, but everything was fine when plugged through an usb2 hub into the very same port).

For win xp, I've no idea, as I've never tried the unit with it.

This 0000 stuff really concerns me. That's what makes me think it's some problem with the cartridge, but I can not figure out what may cause it.

maldoror68, I will email you directly to figure out the next step for us.
