You are correct. I got home and re-flashed the SD card with the OS image and it fired back up. I just found it extremely interesting that the symptoms (white screen, buzzing sound) turned out to be nearly the same as TheAngler's build. Even though the situation is different, maybe the information could relate to his situation somehow.
The setting I changed was Raspi-Config->Advanced. I'm not sure which setting it was, but it was either overscan or resolution. I thought I was entering another sub-menu to look at settings, but it seemed to enable something and require a reboot. I was wanting to see what options were available as many of the menus were simply way to small to read.
