WS Flash Masta v4.4 (early adopter version)
#21
I actually thought it worked on XP, but I haven't tested it yet.

I know the timing is poor for our testing here, but I will have very limited computer/internet access for the next week at least.

I have an XP virtual machine I can test on when I have a chance. I'm curious though, is XP very important to people? What if it won't work on XP? How big of a problem is that?

its not that big problem for me,but i thought first to try it with win xp because driver signing problems with x64 windows, sometimes you can get problems with it.
so i have a asus ee pc,a small laptop with win xp,so i tryed that, but access denied like i said,so tryed win 10,and worked fine,i was surprised it did not work on xp.
but its not a problem,i you wanna fix it flavor,ok for me,dont fix it also ok for me.

To show a game name on the menu, we'd need to build that into the app and/or let the user edit some non-volatile menu. Maybe both would be nice.

The app could flash a slot and then put the name of whatever it just flashed in an area of slot 0.

Maybe the DB of rominfo to name could be stored on the SD, but that would be much more complex for the WS.

Frankly, I would be happy with anything there.. any user definable string would do. Does not need a DB imho. Now I do not even see if the slot is occupied (or I missed something in the menu).

It's finally here!

Thanks @Flavor for the keychain, that was unexpected.

Anyhow, just wanted to ask you guys here: is there any need for the mSD at the present moment of time? From my current usage of it, it seems that I can just flash the game into the cart without the need for the presence of an mSD for now.

You are correct, for now. We're working on it. Hit up http://twitter.com/trap0xF for an update if you want.

I'm getting "FlashMasta.exe is not a valid Win32 application" message on XP desktop and laptop. I use XP systems for programming my Wonderswan because of all the neat tools that run on that OS.

You know, I recall there being a simple hack to get a QT app to run under XP. It didn't occur to me until just now. Maybe one of you more technical guys here could check on it. I think it should be fairly simple to find via Google.

EDIT: See http://www.tripleboot.org/?p=423 if you want to try editing the exe to work on XP.

Confirmed!
To get FlashMasta.exe working on XP:

Change 060000h to 050001h at locations 150h and 158h.

I kinda wish the usb port was oriented to the top of the cart so I could flash while it was still seated in the handheld. The only way I have found to get it out is to push on the largest IC and I don't want to stress it. Testing means lots of ins and outs so I think I'll epoxy a plastic ribbon on the reverse side to pull on.
