    Its hard to tell in the photos, but could you check and see if the pin 36 (button A) went a little too far through the board. I have attached a photo showing pin 36. Try pushing that pin back the other direction and do your test again.

I fix the problem. It turns out the raspberry pi the I had was damaged so I bought a new one everything is good now. Thank you for all your help.
