System files / GPIO not working
#1
Okay so I did some emulation upgrades, and now my GPIO doesn't work and I can't auto logon.

Is there anyway I could overwrite the system files with the latest update without loosing my roms, folders, bios, ect, or do I have to just extract them all and start fresh again? I have a conference on Thursday so thats why I am so desperate.

The GPIO inputs are an easy fix. I think the autologin is also. I’ll get back to you in an hour or so.

There are a few threads about the GPIO inputs. Here's one that describes how to get them working after a kernel upgrade.

From https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/1859...-update/13

When you boot up, if you get a login prompt, then login via keyboard. Then hit ENTER.

If you get a command-prompt:
- at command prompt, type sudo raspi-config
- select option 3 in menu (Boot Options)
- select option B1 (Desktopp/CLI)
- select option B2 (Console Autologin)
- Then Ok, exit all the way and restart.

If EmulatioStation boots up after logging in, then
Go to: RetroPie-Setup -> Configuration/Tools -> Autostart -> Start Emulationstation at boot
Exit Retropie-Setup

REBOOT

If you don't have a keyboard, but you can SSH in, then do the command-prompt version.
