flashmasta savegame fix
#31
well... I forgot that...
Race is better, as it works in game, but as soon as I exit an relaunch, all saves are lost.

I'll see that this week-end if I can.

edit : after resizing the rom, it's better in neopop. the patched version is ok with saved edited levels but still ask a name at game start.

I think, maybe, to test this patch on emu, maybe just pad the ROM to 16Mbit. I know how the save files work, so I could see problems here if you're patching and saving.

EDIT: NeoPop and RACE both use the same save-game format.

The patch for delta warp (j)(!) is in the first post now.

use ips lunar patcher to apply the patch.

as it's only 512, you'll have to double the size of the rom after patching
(ex windows command line : copy /b <file_1> + <file_1> <result_name>)

No extenive testing done, feedback welcome.

I did a bit more testing on real hardware.
Used save slot 1 and 20. It' seems good.

However, when playing on custom level 20, the game crashed after finishing the level and I had to remove the battery to power of the handheld.

Yuck. Smile

When you say "real hardware," I assume you mean the NGPC itself.

I put out a request for someone to test the game on their official cartridge. I haven't heard back, yet. Is there anything specific I should ask them to try?

Sure, on the NGPC itself

The only issue left is that the game crashes when I finish the last custom level (20). I only had 2 custom level, the first and the last saved.

I don't think it's a side effect of the save relocation.

The problem I had with my memory relocation is that I was searching for "00 A0 2F 00" and "00 80 2F 00" sequences for "loading" (LD X??, 0x02FA000) but one of them was using LDA instruction and so the address string was only "00 A0 2F" and I missed it.

I've retried today, and this time, It was fine.
I started from the custom level 1, then it folowed with custom level 20 and everything was fine.

Starting from custom level 20 was ok too.

Maybe a low battery issue.

Btw, I think the patch is good now.

Okay. Good.

I didn't hear back from the guy that has the cart. Maybe he'll reply, but I won't push the issue now that you think it's solved.

THANKS!

Didn't play too much of it, but seemed to work fine on the cart. Thanks for the effort.

Hi all. Just got hold of a flash masta cart and I've been testing out a few 8mbit and 4mbit games. Here are my findings:

Biomotor Unitron: Freezes on the options menu when you change the text speed to slow and exit. System wouldn't power off so I had to remove the battery. This bug occurs with and without the patch. The patched version seems to be holding a save file okay (I didn't test the non-patched version for this yet)

Picture Puzzle: Holding a save fine, though I only tested it briefly.

Cotton: Non-patched version throws up a 'Flash write error' when you try to make changes in the options menu. Patched version removes this error but the high score table is completely glitched and displays a bunch of random numbers and symbols. The game has no level select so it doesn't really need a save feature but it's a shame not to be able to save high scores.

What games have you guys tested? I'd be interested to see a list of 4 and 8 mbit games that are known to work.

EDIT: Forgot to add this link http://www.neo-geo.com/pocket/ Useful database of all NGP games listing meg count, region, etc.
