Blush hi,

just get my flashmasta card....and i'm stucked at the installation step.

i'm running win 7 64bits, and i didn't find any tutorial on the website ,only the "download" section with some softs, but no more tutorials on the web or youtube.

can anyone help me ?

what have been done :

-x64 (64bit) MS Runtime Redistributable Package => done and setup ok

-zadig => done but can't find the device ,i can't not find any preset device (.cfg) in the "FlashMasta_Win_64bit_1-21-16.zip" file
i cant find the flashmasta in the "detected devices" if i plug it.
and i'm lost in the 4 "options" (winusb, libusb, etc....)

and if i run flasmasta.exe, the software can't find the device (normal, drivers aren't setup i presume! Big Grin )

so :
How to install these damn drivers ? Confused

thanks !

(what about a tutorial or FAQ in the "download section" ? )

Yes, you are absolutely correct. We need one.

I had a video tutorial for the old way of doing things, but I have not yet updated it for the new software and the new carts that have USB built in to the cartridge.

The stuff listed under the Downloads heading on the http://www.flashmasta.com/software-downloads/ page should be all you need.

For Windows, you need to do ONLY the following.
Run Zadig, choose the device, install the driver. You do not need the ZIP file at all. Zadig completely replaces that file. Zadig does not need any extra stuff (like a .CFG file or anything).
Unzip and run the FlashMasta_Win_*.zip package.
If your machine gives you an error about missing msvcp120.dll or msvcr120.dll, then you need to install the Microsoft Runtime Redistributable Package for your OS.

So, Maldoror68, I assume you are stuck on the Zadig step.

Unfortunately, I can't do any screenshots at the moment. If you can show me some of your Zadig choices, I can probably help more.

Also, try other USB ports. I've heard a couple people over the years say that that can cause issues for certain USB ports.
thanks for the help . Cool

i made a few shots :

at the zadig launch:

but where is the flashmasta ?:
option => list all devices

i'll restart my PC and try another usb plug....

is there any "usb ID" that can make any help to find the device ?

i've tried 4 diferent usb port without success.... Sleepy
there's no "ding dung" *usb plug / unplug sound* or any message in the bottom right corner saying "new device detected" or something...
Thanks for the screenshots. Unfortunately, I probably can not get any tests/screens until tomorrow.

Does the cartridge work on your NGPC? We test them before we ship them, so the unit should boot up and play on your NGPC.

Of course, you will want to use it on your PC. This is the troubling part. If you don't get any of the plug/unplug sounds, that sounds like a problem.

Things to try (if possible) just to get more data:
1) Different USB ports
2) If using a USB hub, don't. If you aren't, try using a hub if you have one.
3) When it's plugged in, open up your device manager and show any USB devices. I'm somewhat wondering if you actually already installed the old driver from that ZIP file. In theory, that shouldn't work or cause a problem, but I don't really know.
4) Try it on a different Windows machine, just to see if it comes up (makes the noises and searches for drivers).
5) Try it on a Mac or Linux machine.

It would be best to see if the USB device is:
A) never detected by the computer
B) only detected under certain circumstances (like USB port or different computer)

A would likely mean something went wrong with the cartridge. B would be annoying, but we could maybe find a solution.

Either way, we will get it sorted out. I'm sorry about the troubles!
Oh, and look at your second screenshot (showing all devices).

The other thing you could do is to plug the cartridge in to USB, run Zadig, and look at that list.

Then, quit Zadig, unplug, run Zadig again, and look at that full list. Is there any change?

Because another option is that the Flash Masta cart could be detected as a different device you've installed in the past. This should not happen, but it's possible.

EDIT: And, yes, there is a USB ID that I can tell you to look for. I just don't know it offhand, and I don't have a cart here with me today.
3rd post in a row. I remembered that I do have the data on this laptop.

Vendor_ID = 0x20A0
Device_ID = 0x4256 (other devices we make are 0x4178 and 0x4252)
i restarted the pc , lauched again zadig , try another usb port :

good news : plug / unplug sound of windows is here. ("unknown device" alert right bottom in windows bar)

thanks for the id but i only got an "0000 0000" id. Confused
it doesn't match your Vendor_ID = 0x20A0 / Device_ID = 0x4256

look a the bottom line of zadig : (ressources already exists) Huh

just put the cart in the neo geo pocket to try it : it works (faselei is your test rom ? Tongue )

damn.

put the cart out ouf the neo geo pocket.

plug it again in the PC (SAME working usb port as before), no plug / unplug sound again !
i fall again up to 8 devices. (was 9 devices before when the cartidge was "partially" recognized )

does the cart "reset" herself when you play it on a NGpocket ?
This seems like very good news. I just can't understand why it is Unknown/0000.

So, I guess, make sure Zadig is closed, wait until Windows is done trying to find a driver for the cartridge. This can take a while. You can tell it to stop searching if you like.

Then, run Zadig. Yeah, that unknown device is likely the cartridge. I don't know why it shows 0000 0000.

WinUSB should work. If I recall correctly, the libusb-win32 and libusbK also work.

This is really very odd. The 0000 IDs shouldn't happen. If there is a hardware problem, then it just should not come up at all (no dah-ding sounds). If not, there are a some options that could be errors, but none are 0000.

(also, for fun, try switching the switch on the cart and booting it in your NGPC to see if there's another test ROM on there)
No, there should be no RESET like you're asking about.

Another option? Could it be that the USB cable (or the plug on the cart itself) is faulty? Like, if you wiggle it or something, sometimes it works and sometimes it fails?
restart windows
plug usb.
plug / sound.

go to zadig. try install
"driver installation failed"

(try all the way, winusb, libusb...)

still have the id to 0000 0000

try another cable ,same way.
so the cable is not faultly
