It does not have built-in WiFi or BT.  I doubt that we will build it in, but we MAY (in the future) create the ability to add it internally.

RE: CM3 with Nano USB Hub and Built-In WiFi - alejanson - 03-07-2018

I have now installed a switch to and added WLAN.

For this I have bought on ebay a 2 + 1 port switch. But really it was a 4 port switch. This is the switch I bought:
https://m.ebay.de/itm/2-Port-USB-Hub-Verteiler-mit-Micro-Mini-Apple-Anschluss-fuer-PC-Raspberry-Pi-rot-/121370406499?txnId=1917947592002

Then I bought an EDIMAX EW-7811UN WLAN stick.
https://m.ebay.de/itm/EDIMAX-EW-7811UN-Wireless-USB-Adapter-150-Mbit-s-IEEE802-11b-g-n-/172614398806?txnId

Then I wired everything as stated here and it all seems to work. Of course I have the switch and the wlan stick still isolated, so there are no problems.

Oh, nice work, alejanson!

Hey Sam, I purchased the same Edimax Bluetooth/Wifi combo USB dongle you use in your video, and was going to attempt this mod. However, I can't figure out how to install the drivers, since that requires wifi. Did you just use a different wifi dongle in order to install the drivers to get it working?

I'm not so sure you broke the Edimax dongle. I have not been able to get the unmodified dongle to work, and I haven't came across anyone that has yet.

ok so stupid question, I went in and soldered everything nut get a "boot loop" where is says it trying to find some specific module. Also my normal usb wont work now, it seems to have power but no function?
My best guess is I might have friend a resistor on the board?
Any ideas / help

I'd suggest that you try a different SD card with a "fresh" burn of our latest SD image. See if that behaves any differently for you. That way you can narrow down whether this is a software vs hardware problem.

I put in a brand new sd card and CM3 and still get the error. I then DE soldered the wiring off and still get an error
I was able to get a picture of the error

There's a similar Edimax EW-7611ULB which bluetooth worked without issue, but needed to un-blacklist the generic Realtek WiFi driver to get WiFi working: https://www.reddit.com/r/raspberry_pi/comments/ohdm7y/comment/hms38d5/

There is also now a Radxa Rock CM3S which fits in the RPi3 CM SODIMM. It includes WiFi and bluetooth. https://wiki.radxa.com/Rock3/CM/CM3S

Hello everyone
The CM3 with Nano USB Hub and Built-In WiFi seems like a convenient and compact solution for connectivity needs. It offers versatility while maintaining a small form factor. Impressive!
