RE: Framerate sometimes drops after a period of no controller input - Flavor - 07-31-2019 krisyadao, Did you try the "fix" that Mootikins posted? In a way, this is a "feature" and not so much a bug. It's part of juj's display driver. It's meant to go to sleep (like a powersaving mode) when there's not much activity on the screen for a period of time. I think that it doesn't actually know that you pressed a button. It just knows that something new is happening on the screen (because you pressed a button). Do you find the stutter issue to be an actual problem. Or is it just one of those things that is noticeable even though it doesn't really affect gameplay? The reason I mention it is because I think there's a tradeoff here. If you want that behavior to go away, the LCD will use more resources. That behavior was put there on purpose, but there is a side-effect. RE: Framerate sometimes drops after a period of no controller input - krisyadao - 08-01-2019 It's jarring is all. Kinda makes my fancy $300 hobby device look "broken" if that makes any sense. For me, I'd rather it not be there... because if I'm gonna set the device down for all that long, I'm gonna save and shutdown anyway. To me, that's the better option for saving battery (in conjunction with a conservative screen brightness setting). Kinda makes my fancy $300 hobby device look "broken" if that makes any sense. I suggested here since the beginning, but have you tried a new image? If you dont want to erase your current image, get another micro sd and test it. The problem with messing around with the software is that if you mess something up, it will be very hard to fix when you have no idea what you are doing. You said that it looks gibberish to you and that you are new to raspberry, and on top of that you are trying an experimental feature, so dont be disappointed if it doesnt work as you wish to. I see 3 options as possible solution: Use it as it was intended, so dont use any experimental things or changeany setting. or, grind it with the guys here and perform the solutions they suggest. Lastly, learn the system, everybody has to learn their own hobbies. Why i say this? Because if this is a hobby as you said, you need to invest the time and effort to make it work and not give up.The device works as intended so dont think of it as a $300 broken device. ![]() ![]() I hope that makes sense. ![]() RE: Framerate sometimes drops after a period of no controller input - Flavor - 08-02-2019 We will try to make a new SD image that has extra options for "Nosleep Cropped" and "Nosleep Filled" and see how those work to alleviate this issue for people that want that choice. RE: Framerate sometimes drops after a period of no controller input - krisyadao - 08-02-2019 luisito, it's all a matter of opinion. We all view the things we spend our money on differently. (Also, I am using it as intended. Using the stock image and the setting for full screen as directed by BoxyPixel) Flavor, that would be nice. A better understanding of how to do this stuff on my own will come with time, but having this simple option would be appreciated. RE: Framerate sometimes drops after a period of no controller input - Flavor - 08-03-2019 I'm currently uploading a new SD image to https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/0B3u1iTJauWTneXFTTnlPS2M4czg It should be named Freeplay_CM3_Test-RetroPie-45_19080201.img.gz It should have an option to choose a "nosleep" LCD driver (cropped or filled). Let us know if you try it. RE: Framerate sometimes drops after a period of no controller input - luisito - 08-03-2019 Edit: Double post RE: Framerate sometimes drops after a period of no controller input - krisyadao - 08-07-2019 (08-03-2019, 09:17 AM)Flavor Wrote: I'm currently uploading a new SD image to https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/0B3u1iTJauWTneXFTTnlPS2M4czg Oops, didn't see your post. Will give this a shot next chance I get. Thanks! |
