Setting up my new CM3 - Help me Out - luisito - 08-13-2019 Hey guys, Finally got my new CM3!!! So excited about this, but I need your help. I have found some small obstacles on the way. 1. Been reading up and down all the guides but I can't find how to enable full screen mode with the boxy pixel shell. On the left side, I have unused vertical screen space and not idea how to shift the image to the left. 2. Is there a contrast control? Even when I lower the brightness, the screen is just too white, I would love to balance with a contrast control to make blacks blacker. Somethings it is hard to read the text because it is so white and the blacks are so soft. 3. Is there a WIFI adapter guide? 4. How about a hotkey guide? Is it possible to change the hotkey-key? Thanks for all the help in advance!! RE: Setting up my new CM3 - Help me Out - Flavor - 08-13-2019 1) You can watch this video. It should show you how to switch to the full-screen display driver. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ja8-R3GveD4 2) No. There is no hardware contrast option for this LCD. I don't know if RetroPie has any software contrast option. 3) Do you mean for hooking up to WiFi? This has the steps to do it "headless" without needing a keyboard and such. https://forum.freeplaytech.com/showthread.php?tid=4672&pid=7284#pid7284 4) You can change the hotkey. The easiest way to do this is to hit START at the main menu. Then choose CONFIGURE INPUTS. Go through the whole thing, and, at the end, it will ask you to press a hotkey. To use the power button as a hotkey TOGGLE, double-tap the power button. This should be the default on our SD images. Otherwise, tap something else (like the select button) here. RE: Setting up my new CM3 - Help me Out - luisito - 08-14-2019 Thanks Flavor! You answered everything I needed. Everything now is tiptop! The full screen looks amazing. I purchased the WiFi dongle just in case, but I don't see a real use of it at this moment. Is it possible to connect a bluetooth dongle? I am thinking in terms of connecting the CM3 to the big screen and sit back with a 8bitdo bluetooth controller. Nintendo Switch style, if you get my meaning. Or even as a second controller! : RE: Setting up my new CM3 - Help me Out - kmacmart@darkcloud.ca - 08-14-2019 @luisito: I'd recommend upgrading to the no sleep variant of the full screen driver to avoid occasional stuttering https://forum.freeplaytech.com/showthread.php?tid=4988&pid=8751#pid8751 I use this dongle successfully with my 8bitdo sn30 pro https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B009ZIILLI/ -- I'm still figuring out how to auto-connect reliably (it's a bit hit or miss), but if you go into the bluetooth menu and select the controller it always works perfectly. It does seem to completely disable the built in buttons on that note (including the hotkey) so if you turn the controller off before shutting the unit down you might have to manually power off via shutdown script by holding the hotkey slider for a few seconds. If you do get the wifi adapter, I'd recommend not upgrading system packages as that broke the built in buttons for me-- it's great for upgrading other components, transferring games, backing up saves and making tweaks like setting up the no sleep full screen driver though. With WiFi, I definitely can populate Scrapper. However, with bluetooth, is it possible to use an 8bitdo controller? Should reinstall the controller module and it should work on your next boot! For luis; the bluetooth adapter we tried (an old, discontinued Rocketfish one) worked perfectly out of the box with 8bitdo controllers. We are also testing to see if we can get the Edimax EW-7611ULB (a combo Wifi/BT adapter) to work. It didn't work in the past, but a new bluetooth driver has come out since our last testing, so you could get the best of both! RE: Setting up my new CM3 - Help me Out - kmacmart@darkcloud.ca - 08-16-2019 @Mootikins-- ahh, good to know for next time that happens, thanks! @luisito: you missed the part of my reply telling you which bluetooth adapter I use and that it works successfully with my 8bitdo controller RE: Setting up my new CM3 - Help me Out - luisito - 08-18-2019 (08-16-2019, 12:31 AM)Mootikins Wrote: For luis; the bluetooth adapter we tried (an old, discontinued Rocketfish one) worked perfectly out of the box with 8bitdo controllers. Totally missed Do you think that the 8bitdo USB bluetooth receivers could work? I was surfing their website and found that they make adapter for many consoles too. They came to be able to use the Edimax EW-7611ULB??? I was looking for a bt/wifi that works thank you! RE: Setting up my new CM3 - Help me Out - Flavor - 08-04-2020 I would love to hear from anyone that has found a working BT+WiFI dongle! I haven't seen anyone have good luck with any under Raspbian, yet. |
