NGP Linkmasta + WS Linkmasta
#1
I am wondering what the possibility is that once the WonderSwan Linkmasta has been figured out it will be combined with the Neo Geo Linkmasta. I would think that combining the two would be less expensive compared to creating a whole new unit. Great work so far!

I'm really not sure what to do with the WonderSwan kit. There are some new issues compared to the NGPC.

First of all, I really don't think I can combine the two, because the WS has a 16-bit data bus, and the NGPC Linkmasta only supports the NGPC's 8-bit data bus. Maybe the WS linkmasta could also do GBA, but I'm not sure that's important to anyone.

The other (probably larger) problem I've wrestled with is how to make a WonderSwan socket. It's completely different than the NGPC one. I may end up having to build a large WS cartridge that combines the linker with the cart in one unit. I'm still working on these ideas/designs, though.

This is one of the things I've been wondering about as well. Is there an edge connector socket with identical pin spacing? The pin number on WS cartridges is insane. They're tiny and really close to each other as well. If you can't find anything you can cut up to make the connectors, what's the possible manufacturing cost?

At least the cart slot isn't covered at the back, so you can make the main body of the cartridge infinitely thick Tongue With a USB micro-a or micro-b connector and a flat LED (or no LED) it might even fit inside a standard WS cart shell.

The USB connector would fit. The electronics required probably won't. We'll see, though.

I was looking with no luck regarding a connector that would fit the game cart but another option could be the top of the cart can have another connector specifically for the linkmaster that way you wouldn't have to find a very specific connector and can use what you have available.

I think that's a good trade off honestly but I can't wait to see what comes of the wonderswan flash cart ^^

Yeah, I've considered this option, too. It's a difficult problem that seems simple. My current thought is that the cart will stick out of the WS unit. It's not great, but I have not come up with a better plan, yet.

I'm highly interested in this too, I've been looking for one for ages. I had one before I left my parents house. It's been 10 years and I can't find it anywhere.

They may have just thrown it out lol
