NGPC display replacement
#1
One thing that has always bugged me about the NGPC is the god-awful LCD. It's very dim and highly reflective.

Does anyone have more details about the display (interface, dimensions, operating voltage, etc)? Are there any mass-manufactored display modules that would be a good fit as a replacement? It would be really neat if the original display could be replaced with a backlit, high-contrast TFT display (preferably with some anti-glare coating), similar to how some people have modded their GameGears.

I don't think this is what you're asking for, but (just to keep some info available) Xian Xi's Front Light mod is the closest thing I know to this.

A guy called Mash used to run a site called Mash Mods. He did a front-light mod, too. I don't know how his was different than Xian Xi's.

A whole new LCD would be the way to go, though. I do know there was some info posted somewhere not TOO long ago about tapping into the LCD signals to do an external display (IIRC). I think it was on Assemblergames.com.

Here are some links:

And, at one point, I got a message from the guy that posted it originally.
