broken connexion on speaker
#1
I'm having an issue with the speaker on my Zero, after making a few tests to see if everything fits in the box the connexion on the negative side on the speaker broke. I'm thinking of soldering it again but the connexion is under some foam / glue. Is that safe to remove this? Or should I just buy a new speaker? Is there an other way to connect that cable (as its the negative side, I'm thinking it could be possible to solder it directly on the back of the speaker....?)

Hey stf, can you post a photo? There is some foam we place on there. It'd be fine to remove, if we're talking about the same thing. Soldering to it shouldn't be tricky, but I understand that you want to be sure not to damage it.

If you post or email a photo, I can annotate it and show you what to connect.

Posting it here in case someone has the same problem

stf had also sent this to me direct, and I had replied there.

To fix it, you need to re-solder the wire on. The tricky part is that the solder pad is covered by the black insulating goop. It would be best to remove the insulation with a hobby (xacto) knift, but that can be tricky. It will melt with a soldering iron, but it can also mess up your iron's tip, so clean the tip right away after it gets that goop on it.
