So about this ILI9341 driver...

I've been very curious about it after seeing game play videos on YouTube. Super smooth frame rates is the dream... After sorting out my emulator mess, I have my FPZ running great, and adding a few lines to the boot config and changing the speed of the waveshare32b have made this system almost perfect.

Concerning the driver... I've tried installing it, doing a git pull to make sure I have the latest build, but no matter what the LCD flakes out after enabling the driver. I was going to try mootikin's suggestion in this thread but I'm afraid to try anything after messing up my build the last time, if that makes sense lol.

Is there a definitive method to getting this display driver to work on a FPZ? I should note I'm using a Freeplay 4.3 image, since emulators run a little better, at least for me anyway.

We do have a new way of installing/running the fbcp drivers (which mootikins helped implement). It has a setting that will re-spawn the process if it ever dies (which can happen in some emulators or other software that changes the HDMI resolution).

None of this was available when we built the 4.3 image, so that stuff isn't in there. On top of that, it's a bit trickier to get this working on the Freeplay Zero.

Mootikins does have a binary for the FPZ on his repository at https://github.com/Mootikins/FreePlayILI9341
If you're good with SSHing in and trying things, you could SSH in, download just that fbcpZero file, kill the current fbcp, and just run fbcpZero. Then you could see how it works with the rest of your setup.

Awesome! I'll have to try this out when I get home and learn how to kill that lol. Thanks for the quick reply.
