Shaders on Freeplay CM3
#1
Wink
Hi all,

What has always been the icing on the cake for me when it comes to emulators is the use of CRT shaders, it just adds so much nostalgia. I've been doing a few Retropie builds so far, but i've  always been using larger HD-screen so far, so my question is: how well do these shaders hold up when it comes to smaller low-res LCD screens?
Anyone care to show me a few with and without -pics of a few Retroarch cores (preferably SNES and Mame)?

I'm 90% sure my next Retropie build will be a Freeplay CM3 Smile

Thanks in advance!

Good question, Kanahpoo!

I know that there are people that are really into the shaders. That hasn't been me. I actually really hope someone shows up here and shows off the screenshots you asked for. I'd like to have that info here, but I'm not in a place to provide it.

Thanks for the pictures!

I've been using "crt-pi.glslp" as well, gives a great result on a 1080p-screen for all systems.

Could you perhaps show me some pictures with and without shaders for comparison?
(Easiest way to do so is by cycling through the shaders using Hotkey + M / Hotkey + N if you plug in a keyboard)

If you could show me some pictures of games using both shaders below, that would be much appreciated!
  • "stock.glsl" (a standard included shader that seems to have no shader effect at all, similar to the noshader.glslp)
  • "crt-pi.glslp"

EDIT: Aha! This pic came from you as well, it was the only picture of a shader on a CM3 i've found up until now Big Grin

crt-pi look very strong to me.
crt-nes-mini look far better on the TFT, softer but still present Smile

It looks a little stronger here indeed.
But it works, looks nice and that's what i wanted to know.
There are a lot of standard shaders to choose from, so i'm sure i'll find the right one Smile

Thanks for the pictures!
