I'm sorry I don't mean to misrepresent your product. I've never looked that closely at it to be honest. Although that would make adding additional buttons easier...

Heh.  Don't worry about that.  I just wanted to make it clear for anyone reading this.

If you wanted to add L2/R2 to a Freeplay Zero, I might suggest considering this method.

In that video, Hipcat shows multiple mods, but it's the L2/R2 "inside" of the L1/R1 that you should focus on.

Thank you gents for the information. Connecting the buttons I’m guessing they would go directly to the raspberry?

Correct, pretty much.  There are solder points on the Freeplay Zero board where the Pi Zero connects.

In terms of CPU difference between CM3 and A+/B+ is 200Mhz. Where difference between Zero and A+/B+ is 400Mhz. So between zero and A+/B+ you're getting quite a bit of a speed up. Not so much between CM3.
I've tried a couple of N64 games and they seem to work fine so far. The only time I noticed a big drop in frames was during the intro to Doom 64 but there's a ton of stuff going on in that scene. I've only had a chance to play them a little.

Sorry to revive a zombie thread ?‍♂️

Is there a diagram that can show which pins are unpopulated? I think I might be able to see just by looking at the board, but I would love to have some confidence in my selection ?

Also, will I have to do any software modification to get it to recognize the new buttons? Or can I just reconfigure the buttons in the input menu?
