Troubleshooting WiFi access

Yep. The Canakit is 2.4 only and keeps trying to connect to the 5.0 band (or the router is going "wait, whut?"). It's not really really really worth it to separate the bands permanently, so I think I'll leave things as-is and wait for a new adapter to arrive that can handle this better.

I dunno if it helped to the OP, but it helped me with a similar problem. Thanks. The funny thing is - I'm preparing myself for becoming a Cisco certified network engineer. But I guess that my knowledge is not enough yet. Maybe I will need some help. One of my friends has found this https://cciedump.spoto.net site not so long ago. I guess I will use their help if something won't change. Right now I don't have enough time to study because I already have a job.
