In a way, this is a "feature" and not so much a bug. It's part of juj's display driver. It's meant to go to sleep (like a powersaving mode) when there's not much activity on the screen for a period of time. I think that it doesn't actually know that you pressed a button. It just knows that something new is happening on the screen (because you pressed a button).
I'm fairly new to Raspberry Pi so what they posted looks like gibberish to me, to be honest.
