Using Flashmasta save on other platforms?
#1
I'm trying to bring my Judgment Silversword progress to mister and emulators, but the Flashmasta save format is .wsf and many times too big for me to use there. I know there's a tool to convert saves for use on Flashmasta, but I don't really see anything that goes the other way around. Is there a possible way to make my Flashmasta saves more portable?

That .wsf file should just be a copy of the entire savegame (SRAM) chip. I think the same would be true on other systems (MiSTer or emulators or whatever). The file for the Flashmasta cart could just be a lot larger, though. The chip used on the Flashmasta cart is larger than most games would need, but the WSF is just a copy of the entire chip. MiSTer (or an emulator) might only save the size that the game actually uses. The Flashmasta stuff wouldn't have any idea how much was actually used, but MiSTer or an emulator could know.

You could talk to the guy here https://github.com/Churchdill/FlashMasta...-Converter and see if he'd make an option to go the other way.

Or, you could use some other generic tool to try to cut just the proper amount of data.

Like, play the game on MiSTer. Generate a save file. See how large it is. If it's N bytes, then, just cut (or crop) out the first N bytes from the .WSF file. Then, put that in place of the MiSTer save file and see if it works.

If you change the extension of *.wsf, it will be recognized as a save in oswan.

No separate conversion process is required.

After playing the game on oswan, saving it, converting it to wsf using the conversion tool and restoring it to flashmasta, you can use the save in flashmasta as well.
