Freeplay Zero will no longer power up
#1
Not sure what's going on.  When I hold the power switch the Freeplay Zero won't boot up.  The batteries are charged, and it will boot up and operate if i plug a micro usb cable directly into the Pi.  I've opened it up and the power switch on the Freeplay board is still within the grasp of the switch cover.  There's nothing visible inside or out that would indicate any damage.

I built it about 3 weeks ago and have had no problems until now.

Any suggestions?

There was another guy recently that had a similar problem, and he found out that his hammer header was basically hammered in too far. That caused his power pins to make a poor connection, so it would run when powered through the Pi itself, but the Pi wouldn’t get power from the Freeplay board.

Anyway, can you do this following test and tell me what the backside LEDs look like? I’m talking about the ones that are in the cartridge lot area.

Unplug all batteries
Plug in power to the Freeplay Zero
What color is the LED? That should be green at this point.
Don’t unplug anything, but plug in one battery.
What color is the LED now? It should turn blue to show that it’s charging, but it could possibly turn green if the battery is already 100% charged.

I soldered my Pi to the board. Don't know if that makes a difference.

Test 1: The LED is blue.

Test 2: The LED is also blue.

Hey Horus. Because you have a blue LED during your "Test 1," I believe that you could have a problem with one of the chips on the board. Would you please go to http://www.freeplaytech.com/contact/ and open a SUPPORT inquiry. That way we can better track down how the issue happened and figure out how to fix it for you.
