Freeplay Zero with RetroPie 4.7.1 sound issue
#1
Hello Folks,

This is my first time on the forum. I recently bought the Freeplay Zero kit, and I tried to install it with retropie 4.7.1 image, I got video working and the controls, but the sound is not working, it does make some faint crackling sounds, I have no idea how to make it work, I tried looking into the Freeplay-Support repo and also at the official image but I couldn't find any reference on what is needed for the sound to work properly.

Any ideas? Any places I can get an updated image for Freeplay Zero?

This is the result of my lsmod:

I was able to make the sound work, after a lot of back and forth. But what did the trick (one of them) was updating retropie/raspbian and setting the oudio to headphone output on raspi-config. I'm gonna try to make a clean install later with reproducible steps, and maybe make an updated image available? Do you people have interest? BTW the latest retropie runs psx emulators much faster.

Hey retrobruno! When you say that you updated, did you use one of our SD image files and then update everything?

OR, were you trying to use a SD image from RetroPie and make it work on the Freeplay Zero?

Hey Retrobruno, I'm having a similar issue right now. I'm almost certain that it's a software problem as I get the buzzing out of both the speaker that came with my Freeplay shell kit and also my headphones if I connect them via the audio jack. Would you mind writing out the steps you followed to fix the issue? Hopefully it will work for me as well

I am very interested in an image of this if you can share.  My goal is to ditch emulation station in favor of attract mode.  The more recent retropie builds seem to work better with attract mode.
