Joystick Driver Chip not found CM3 Build
#3
Hi AusLynch17!

So, in your 'dmesg' output, it's the "mk_arcade_joystick_rpi:" lines that are of interest.

The "chip not found" messages are when it's trying to find the analog chips. Are you using an analog add-on board? Are you trying to do analog at all? You said that you're installing joysticks, so I assume that means analog sticks. The buttons, dpad, shoulders, etc all use digital GPIO on the Raspberry Pi. The analog inputs use analog to digital chips that are on the i2c bus. So, your output shows that it's not finding these chips. Can you show some photos of the analog add-on board and how its soldered to the main board and how the joysticks are soldered to the add-on board?

The troubling part of your dmesg is actually the last line.
"[ 521.511139] mk_arcade_joystick_rpi: Exiting"

The number at the front is the timestamp. SO, it looks like the joystick driver is booting up fine and then after 511 seconds it exits. Perhaps this is when you tried to install a driver from the RetroPie menu?

Anyway, you already had the driver installed. Installing a new driver seems to have caused your driver to unload.

I don't think you have the same problem as https://forum.freeplaytech.com/showthread.php?tid=5307

I think that you (most likely) have something soldered incorrectly (or not making good contact) and it can't find the ADC (analog to digital converter) chips.
