Card Fighters' Clash 2 Expand Edition
#21
I will not, for sure Tongue

This revision is based on the great card guide by Hkazuya
http://www.gamefaqs.com/ngpc/916658-snk-...faqs/41495
which I think has the most accurate descriptions of abilities.

Some work in progress screenshots (original translation on the left):

Also I am rewriting abilities to unify the actions, effects and names, sometimes following the style and the guidelines of MTG card game:
  • Damage is dealt.
  • BP can be raised or lowered.
  • A player can gain or lose HP and SP.
  • Players draw cards from their deck, or they put them into their hand or their discard pile.
  • Players reveal their hands.
  • Abilities may be lost, be copied, stolen, be mimicked, or nullified.
  • A United Attack can deal piercing damage to enemy.

Since I’m not a native English speaker, may must be grammatical errors in my revision. I will be very pleased if someone can help me checking the script.

I think this is a great idea. Are you just hex editing the ROM? I may be able to get you the tools to do this with a text file. That may be easier.

At the moment, time is tight for me, but I'd like to see this worked out and completed. Let me know what I can provide to make your work easier.

Hi Flavor, thanks for your reply and for the great job translating CFC2.

To extract the scripts from de ROM I use Cartographer, then I edit them with Notepad++ (and the Spell-Checker plugin active). For script insertion I use Atlas, another great tool. Also I created the font table with TaBuLar.
And Tile Layer Pro to do some graphical edition, if needed.

At this time I have completed the revision of the text abilities of all cards (I started six months ago). What’s the best way to share this work with you? Is there any legal issue to upload a modified version of the rom? Or is it better to upload an IPS patch?

I'd say to post an IPS here. Then maybe we can get some people to test it out. I'd want to make sure there aren't bugs before we announce it.

If it's all good, then I would probably announce it on http://cfc2english.blogspot.com if that was okay with you. If you'd want to write a post about it, that would be even better.

I'm curious what you did with Tile Layer Pro. I'm also curious what you did with the font table.

Did you start with the English version, or did you start with the Japanese version?

I haven't used Cartographer or Atlas, but I should learn more about them. It might be smart for the Biomotor Unitron 2 translation effort, too.

Also, you're from Spain, right? I don't know if you'd care, but a while back there was a guy that translated CFC2 into Portuguese. Then another more recently came along and wanted to translate to Spanish.

I don't know if you'd want to work on anything like that, but if you did, I could probably get you into contact with one of them. I have no idea if the Spanish version ever even got started. I'm pretty sure the Portuguese one got made (maybe even 100%), but I don't know if it was ever released anywhere.

Here’s the IPS patch of the up-to-date revision.

.zip   svc2t.zip (Size: 7.76 KB / Downloads: 430)

The texts of the abilities of all cards were fixed, now they say more accurately what the effect does.

Also, I've aligned the items in the Dictionary menu, and rewritten certain rules to correct mistakes and make them more understandable (e.g., you can only backup once per turn, whereas current rules says twice).

It's ok with me. The main reason was to share with the community a fixed version of the great English translation, so I'm happy you want to announce it. But please wait until I revise the texts when ability is used, since some texts are garbled.

With Tile Layer Pro I changed CAB’s name to CAP in the Free Battle selection screen.

All I did involving the font table was to generate one with TaBuLar to use with the script insertion tools.

I can't read japanese Sad
I started with the English version 5-03-08, the latest posted in http://cfc2english.blogspot.com/

Yes, I’m from Spain Smile Would be very nice translating the game to Spanish, but in this language we have diacritical marks on vowels (áéíóú) and some letters like “ñ” that don’t exist in English, and I don’t know how to add them to the ROM and make them variable-width.

I worked with the guy that did the Portuguese version, and we added these special characters. I don't know if we got them all, but I think we got all the ones he asked for. Again, I don't know if this matters for much of anything, anyway. Take it for whatever you think it's worth.

The Spanish language has some special characters other than Portuguese, but could be a good starting point. Smile

If you can help me adding these special Spanish characters to the ROM, or maybe explain me how to do it (I've programming knowledge with JavaScript, Ruby and other programming language for the web), then I'd start the translation.

It can also be a good idea get into contact with the other spanish guy who started the translation, and ask him about the status of the project.

Would be interested in helping out in any way. Testing out Raohmaru's IPS right now.

First, I'd like to thank everyone involved in the CF2 patch for their hard work (this game and its predecessor are pretty much the only reasons I bother with NGPC emulation and further, it is also the reason I registered here).
Raohmaru's effort to further polish the patch is indeed something great (I haven't tested it yet), but on the stock patch
there is a little issue I came across that I'd like to respectfully report. When using short animations, Hiryu's name appears under the attackers' names, regardless of Strider being present or not during the attacks.

I imagine this was either something that was never found or couldn't be solved, but I thought I'd report it here.

Edit: to post images here, do I have to use HTML tags?

Edit 2: After some quick digging, I found out this error also happens in the japanese game under the same conditions,
so it is no fault of the patch.
